Variax Update May 22, 2006

Well I've had the Variax 300 for a few weeks now. What do I know?
- This thing is a creative wet dream…all the sounds any songwriter or jammer would ever need.
- It makes getting ideas down a piece of cake….I need to get a bigger hard drive!
- I am pretty sure that I only need the Ibanez for real shredding….otherwise it's all variax!
- I am a member of the Variax/Line6 cult…..JOIN US!!!!
My process of late has been to lay down a riddim bit on the weekend and then take a few passes over the course of the week. By next fall I should have enough stuff to easily cull together some interesting tunes…..the wait will be worth it.!!
The only improvement I can see is some sort of Ibanez/Variax hybrid. I see Parker guitars is making an Adrian Belew model with variax modeling capability. I would love to see Line6 license out this technology….that would be awesome!

Well I had a little trouble with the firmware and getting it updated, but after a few reinstalls I got it working. Man….this thing is SICK…the tuning capabilities are just mindblowing….from dropped tunings to open tunings to low down slipknot type stuff…this thing does it all. I am blown away. What a piece of gear…there is NO going back. I can see that now.

I scored one! I got it from an Ebay auction. It's a model 300. I used it on a gig last night. I'm impressed. It's worked flawlessly. I used it all night. All the tones…I really dig the Jumbo Acoustic and the Les Paul Jr with p-90's…but all the models it does are awesome. Between the Variax and the PodXT Live, I am stoked! The guys in the band dig it. It is awesome…I fear going back might be tough.
